@nanaya Public display of affection was a big no-no in a lot of eastern cultural society, it persist to this very day, although the severity of it differs from place-to-place.

A neighboring province of my home region even had a pretty strict sharia law code (Qanun) that makes it technically punishable by law (with public lashing, yes they still do that). it's weird. Dating out in the open must be pretty dangerous there.
While in my home province (right next to them) we don't have that and you can find pork and even booze everywhere.

With him "touching her" (by kissing her out in the open) would make it almost a guarantee that he will be obligated to marry her, even if their parents ever had a thought about annulling the marriage.
