I'd like to say I would have noticed the bulge on the bed before lying down next to it, but honestly? I totally could have done this. To either stave off the awkwardness or make it worse, the follow up when finally noticing someone was next to you is probably "So, do you prefer being the big spoon or the little spoon?"
