It was quite a bit better than I was expecting. The female lead really boosted it a couple of levels from a typical version of this kind of thing. It was a bit rough in places, and yeah, I'd have to agree a bit rushed, but I didn't mind the ending at all--kind of appreciated it, actually.

Thing is, let's face it he'd been way too much of a dick for a self-respecting person to just fall into his arms, so it's kind of nice that he's on probation, like.

That was surprisingly good. Usually in these stories the jerk gets the girl with, maybe, some half-hearted repentance. In this, he's forgiven but not trusted. Which is how it should be. Lying to that degree, you aren't going to be welcomed back with open arms no matter how good you look.
