My personal theory is that, IF ( and that is big if because the Word of God of this author is not one to be relied on ) this is actually future Earth, the "humans" we see around here are not actually humans, but pretty much biological sexbots that are still spewing of a somewhat intact factory ... and that the monsters we saw are what remains of the humans ... and that they are inside of a hedonist amusement park in ruins ( come and f*ck a mermaid, ride in a unicorn ...whatever you want ). That would explain a LOT of what we see in this manga
