hmmmm, it's hard to say. Thing is, what they taught him isn't how people normally do it. Remember, the norm is just to use the skills you have, and were probably born with. Directly manipulating the energy is...kinda something only they really do
. So, it's hard to say if he had talent with it since almost no one does it. What they mean when they say he has no talent is both the lack of skills to automate the process for him and his low starting point for the amount of those energies he had. He had a low starting point and had to work pretty hard to get up to even just par.

No she acknowledges his skill, what she said was he had no talent when she first trained him, and didn't expect he could become a better adventurer because he could only use couldn't only use basic healing (which that ish is more than likely a full heal if it can cure venom) and basic black magic.
But he has become much stronger now despite still only having basic level skills and she acknowledges that.
