This one is kinda cute but to be honest I hate the whole "misunderstandings" trope so very, very much. Like is Japanese that imprecise of a language that people can hold whole conversations and not know what the other person is talking about?

You can basically omit half of what would be a sentence and in most cases people understand. Of course, you do it that way when it won't be misunderstood (unless manga).
But yeah, you can omit things like the subject time, etc. and people get the rest according to context and shit

This whole misunderstanding thing is really starting to wear out a bit, but I guess it's the only thing that keeps the story going... Still, passing tests with only "intuition"? She must be a genius in her own way haha

You guys don't even know. Every time, for some reason, when I hold a conversation a misunderstanding shows up almost immediately. When I say one thing, somehow it's interpreted another way.

English has quite strict rules even in informal speech but lots of other languages don't. In slavic languages subject can be deduced from verb form, in japanese too (I think?), so a subject is often omitted. Grammar is very different in every language family, so different things can be omitted with the sentence staying grammatically correct.
Btw, English grammar was simplified over centuries of being international/inter colonial language. It's cute how you compare Japanese to English toddlers talk.

I mean if you look at the literal translations... it seems weird to have to 'deduce' the subjects and pronouns rather than simply being explicit. Or rather, the fact that being explicit so as to prevent any misunderstandings is considered awkward is pretty odd to me.
Like in the example given in the Wikipedia page that @daviot linked, the Japanese phrase: Shiranai. Ki ni itta? which is "I don't know. Did you like it?" translates literally to "Don't know. Did like?" - which sounds VERY toddler like. Like sure, in English you could speak informally and say something like, "Dunno. Like it?" - in which case the subject is also dropped and deduced. But it would absolutely not be considered abnormal to say the full sentence, whereas in apparently in Japanese they wouldn't consider that 'correct'.

I'm personally loving this story so far, even including the miscommunications. The misunderstanding trope has been done to freaking death, but this manga has, in my opinion, managed to keep the interactions with them quite fresh and tackles them well enough. Other than the premise, any misunderstandings seem to be rectified relatively quickly and smoothly.
For me, I would love to see the story cover their relationship after the misunderstanding is resolved extensively and hope it won't mark the end of the manga. That said, there's a lot of stuff that can only be milked out while the misunderstanding is up, so I'm fine with taking our time getting there too.
