Yeah, sure, not everything has to orbit the MC, but dragging on so many chapters for the sake of what seems like a totally random event that has nothing to do with anything feels like such a drag.

I agree. One chapter to introduce everyone, one for random fighting and one for MC stealing the item. That should be it

@Solipsist I care a lot, this is showing even more what world him and his children are entering. All of his children despite his wishes at the beginning and all the tiny compromises he made along the way to secure their future are making the whole family slowly walking the path of martial art practitioner. We are getting more glimpses what goes on behind the scenes. Factions fighting against each other for treasures and medicine, blackmailing bandit groups that were funded by martial art associations. And with the other guy probably the emperor/noble faction despising the murim world and slowly trying to dismantle their powers.

This is what will happen since the MC is a fucking dumbass. He will not have started to move the second they started fighting, instead looking at them all like a fucking toddler looks at food, the pouch will bounce all the way to him and he will catch it and get dragged in to it.

EVEN if by some god damn miracle he gets to keep all 3 and give them to his kids later, sure as shit hasn't been worth all these chapters. Yeah, since it is now known to be 3, for sure his kids will get them.

I get what you're saying, but you're comparing the wrong stuff.
There's a difference between the criminal-organization moving about in the narrative while the MC is away, or the kids waltzing around at martial-school, or even their teachers submerging the narrative in political intrigue -- and comparing that with the MC trying to do something -- and then being completely put to pause by what is literally a random-encounter.

Everything else you mentioned takes place in the background, concurrently. The narrative splits off between characters.
This, however, takes the MC's plot -- chains a weight to it, and puts everything to a grinding halt. You can't compare multiple viewpoints to "the mc did something and then someone stopped him so he can watch a fight for 4 episodes".
