He lives with his mom and yet is closer to the assassin maid.. We rarely see him interacting with his alive and healthy mom..

He knows he’s gonna be killed and doesn’t tell his mom to join him as he runs away nor does he worry about her.

@kanade_alter the king needs a male heir. Even the most useless male son is still a male son. So he keeps him as a Reserve until he gets a "proper" heir, just in case he only gets daughters from the MCs birth on.
And they kill him bcs as the first born he would be able to dispute his younger brothers claim.

seeing as she is on the cover - in full detailed color - with the former lord of the forests child (who has grown some and is in very fancy and nearly regal looking gear) with the MC who aged a bit and has his own nice looking weapon/gear and she is there as well (again in full color) we will see her again; id be very surprised if she doesn't play a major role in the rest of the series or at least for points of it.
