Cause you don't know if she actually killed herself or used that as a way to fake her own death. No better way to do it to avoid suspicions than a way where it's near impossible to find a body. Which leads to the last page.. is that her showing up after faking her death so she's free from her father? I dunno, it's been a while since i read this so the details of it in my head are hazy
