Pick a random default avatar for users without one and make it permanent for them, give options to change to another default

While multiple default avatars are nice, having the same person show up with 3 different avatars in the same forum thread makes things really confusing.
Either:
1) Pick a random default avatar when a user creates their account and have that be the user's avatar until they change it
2) Pick a random default avatar for users without one when you open a page and have all their posts have the same avatar without making it random for each post
