Romantically, I think exactly like an anime-protagonist. Even if you'd spell it out for me, it wouldn't sink.
But even I'd "get the clue" in this situation. I get that the author can't change the status quo, because god forbid, but holy hell I don't think I've seen it pushed this hard aside, other than in Tomodachi. Which I still hold as the worst series in terms of MCs I have seen yet, specifically because of that oblivious behavior.

To be fair the way their weird relationship started was her threatening for him to be caught forcing himself on her unless he was her servant. I think no matter what happened I wouldn't later then assume she liked me, I would be so ready for her to do something else if I did anything that I would be as purposefully dense as the MC.
