Why was HE the one that was smacked??? HER DAUGHTER jumped ON HIM... he's the obvious victim... if that was his mom, I'd understand...

@deathmailrock it's the "males have a double standard" trope. Read my translation of Futago Complex chapter 4, 3rd page for a good example (shameless plug)

@toshiNARI I do get the double standard thing... it's supposed to be a funny joke, and if it was an over protective dad, I'd understand... and even then, sis was obviously joking (I do read it)
The joke often needs a proper basis... hyperactive daughter often leads to the daughter getting smacked..
If the mom is an over protective idiot, you got to show it better...
I guess the issue is the execution rather than him being blamed... it's like they wanted the joke, but didn't add the substance for it.
It's like that one series "Potatoes Are the Only Thing That’s Needed in This World!" where the MC is comically abused... but it's by people who should have nothing to really do with him, and he has an actual tragic backstory... it's taking the classic Japanese trope of comic slapstick... but doing it very badly... like the author wanted the comedy, but didn't actually understand it...
I think another Chinese novel did this too where the heroine is just bad and you'd wish she were dead, but then all of the sudden they try to give her a good point of being nice to animals... but she was just a f***ing b*tch for too long...

@deathmailrock You're not wrong, but…I just like to give the author the benefit of the doubt that the mom is just thinking "hey I actually ship my daughter with him but I have to seem like a responsible mom and so let's pretend I don't approve until later" kind of thing. I won't spoil anything more than
(it's a harem manga after all and this girl is the "main" girl)
the mom isn't really opposed to them being together

@toshiNARI That's actually the point... the mom seems like someone who would ship them, so when her hyperactive daughter jumps on someone, she should hit her daughter...
See? It's the execution. She should logically hit the daughter because she approves and knows that her daughter is this kinda idiot. If it was HIS OWN mom, then I'd get it, and if the mom was just exaggeratedly over protective, I'd also get it... but neither was the case

@deathmailrock well, at least it was a chop and not a "I'll kill you" kind of thing but…when you first pointed it out I took notice of that too. Hopefully she stays a side character and doesn't appear too much.
