Kind of an interesting yet heavy-handed premise...however I really don’t get the central logic here.

Are we supposed to believe that she’s too proud to keep pestering the police and getting some sort of loan but she’ll somehow be enticed into living with this creepy and abusive rich-kid? Is this some commentary about how you can be just one stolen wallet away from being homeless...?
