Pumpkin Time - Ch. 48

What I really don't get why is Izuki so subservient to Maya? She's barely a friend but she treats her like she's owns her her life lmao. And it's not like she doesn't know how lame Maya can be, she's seen what she did with the photograph. It's makes no sense. There was no way this conversation would have gone any way other that Maya manipulating her again (and her listening, again).

@Minoguk To be fair they are in their last year of HS so they are about 18. He's probably only like 20/21. Not all that odd to be friends, since hes never shown any interest romantically at all.

@cupcakeparty Her brother fucking came to Japan to fucking stop her, and he just goes, "oh shit, Itsuki is cute, do what you want Maya, I'm going to chill here too" like wtf?

I can only think that Itsuki doesn't do shit for a lot of it is cause, a) she really didn't know what she wanted for a good portion of this or at least didn't consciously know what she wanted, b)her time as a guy probably hinders her understanding of what she wants with her future, especially if it involves a relationship, and c) for a good part of the story, it honestly seems Itsuki has no one aside from her cousin and Maya popping in and be her "friend" and helps "lead" a very headless Itsuki with life

Honestly, this author's characters are very... Tropey in a very annoying way.

Maya’s got some nerve, I was ok with her at first but she just keeps getting meaner. It’s just really pathetic at this point.

@UnluckyGrape
I knew her brother wasn't going to do anything, but she should've got embarrassed or something. Yell at her in front of her classmates.

Also, I agree with your points, but it's so frustrating. For Itsuki, I feel like her conflicting emotions only highlighted the need to tell Maya to mind her business. Itsuki has been through a lot, and she has clearly seen signs of Maya's underhanded methods and pushy behavior. Itsuki is super self introspective but in all the wrong areas.

Even if she is unclear on what she wants, it should be obvious that her relationship with Maya is putting her in uncomfortable situations with Ritsu and forces herself to overanalyze every interaction with him because Maya wants to make sure there isn't any competition.

@cupcakeparty

I very much agree with you in how Itsuki is thinking too deeply on all the wrong things. Its one thing to wonder if Maya should be kept in good graces considering the extent, but once she's crossed the line in either manipulating Itsuki or stealing and destroying Ritsu's things, especially when it was done right in front of Itsuki, why would you even bother trying to stay cordial with her. She ripped that childhood photo thinking if it was gone, Ritsu would suddenly like her.

As for Itsuki's indescesiveness, its becoming the worst example of romantic lead being caught between a friend and the male lead. Especially when it came to any and all the requests by Maya, Itsuki has done everyone of them, and yet Maya still blames Itsuki for somehow charming Ritsu. A lot of the "drama" is really more so put on Maya's interactions. Had the author taken the time to flesh Maya out, and make Itsuki and her actually become friends, this would make much more sense, or at least feel narratively more fullfilling.

Lol, so psycho learned the great secret. Hence time for her to die apparently!

I don't understand how Itsuki cares so much for Maya? She's literally done NOTHING to deserve so much trust. Goddamn.

And they still haven't explained the whole 'suddenly became a girl' thing. Did her parents think she was a boy? Or was she raised as a boy?

It's quite annoying that MC quit baseball for good. There is softball too after all. Why so studious all of a sudden?

Whatever, hope MC will tell him after or something. Idk what the author was thinking with Maya. They’ve made no attempt to make her likeable so I kinda don’t give a damn if anything happens to her.

Thanks for the update! Was looking forward to this the most because I just wanna see the truth come out!

I'm so fed up with Maya, she needs to go ASAP. And her brother doesn't do anything despite seeing how selfish his sister has become 😤super annoying.

Just when u thought maya would have some character development she pulls another selfish move

@Treswimming I know, but the way the author is trying to frame the story is for us (the readers) to sympathize with Maya because something bad happened to her. But I can’t sympathize with her because there’s nothing redeemable or likeable about her.

And I also have no idea why the MC seems to care so much/value Maya’s opinion. They’re more like acquaintances than friends, yet MC seems to listen and do whatever Maya asks them to.

@krzywasabi I think it's more like the author is trying to humanize her, showing that she is taking actions that some others might in her situation, rather than make her likable. We don't like her, but at the very least we can see where she's coming from.
