I really appreciate that the Princess still occasionally keeps her eyes closed just like in her introduction. Maybe it's a thing she does to avoid unnecessarily exerting her vision. If the author was a bit of a hack, her habit of keeping her eyes closed at first would have just been a way to reveal her special pupils at the right moment (page 25 ch17), only to be forgotten forever after.
 
i just noticed that the princess' flower hairs shrinking into flowerbuds whenever her eyes are closed and vice versa
it's a very cute character quirk
