Oh yeah, the whole right to left, left to right reading can be a pain. Chinese is the same. It's supposed to be up-down (vertically) right row to left row, lol, so when people try to write it horizontally it's a mess. Nowadays, many documents are typed/printed using the Western layout, left-to-right horizontal Chinese.... but shop signs can be left-to-right or right-to-left.
