@CursedLich Yeah, she's way better than anyone else so far. But she could have just told him they were going in circles to avoid invisible enemies. Instead all he got was something about a "dangerous path". She knows he doesn't trust her, but still withholds crucial information that might build trust. Seems dumb to not give a useful tool the best fighting chance.

True. If she only said that enemies were invisible then he would probably trust her on that. Since you know - they have monsters that grow weapons from their back and she's nano-robot ghost or some shit. It was also kinda stupid that he was throwing a fit when literally everyone in the guild knew the first-timer rule. I'm pretty sure they would tell newcomers about it during registration process.
I hope that at least guy was smart enough to take few dozens of the regeneration pills. Stuff like this is worth more than gold on the post-apo wasteland like this one.

@JA10111 She already got him out of an impossible situation in ch. 1, with the weapon dogs. He knows she can be trusted somewhat, but I would doubt even my greatest ally if they made me run in circles with no good explanation or reason.

Rather, I would say this way he knows she will likely withhold any information he might want or need, just so she gets her way.

@BananowyJE : My guess is they should but do not, and they should tell them again before handing over the money anyway. Plus the rule only makes sense if applied to everybody since all relics should need to be tested to make sure they are still functional, and even the most experienced could bring in a dud by mistake, just with more experienced getting a better amount up front. Heck from the clerk's smile at the end it might not even be a rule, but him scamming a kid with no ability to defend himself.
