I mean, yeah his family is in its own way is pretty messed up, to point that he had to kill his own pops... However, when we saw his flashbacks of him as a child, he was basically pretty normal, compared to how a psychopath would be, is that just how he was with his dad then? He was just a psycho toward other people?

I forget the exact reason why she put it on him (been a while since I read the raws) but he's a complete psychopath without it, possibly why his dad didn't bother taking it off. He also gets re-charmed later and the senior sister is still the main love(?) interest and ally as of the latest raws, although the effects of the charm isn't as strong due to how much stronger the MC got.

Seems to me the Charm was Keeping him, "normal" without it as the spirit worker commented, his cold psychopath side surfaces and both it seems like a charm is definitely needed.

I swear this author covered all his bases. One of my largest qualms with Chinese stories is that they have inhuman female character, that influence the lead way too much. The TL put it best "He ain't no simp"
