Its not a spoiler, its already shown in this chapter about the effects of pills, but for the durations is already said on readers before me.
Basically the priests are not trustworthy since they are offering some pills with evil intention on their faces (you can see it clear as daylight), you will be wary with their nice offerings without any consequences or giving them something in return.
He just trying to destroy other kingdoms/nations from beginning and making them as the saviour but in fact they are just bunch of evils.

People die after taking berserk pills three times in a row, or in a few weeks of time anyway.
IIRC, their internal organs start to rot immediately after they take the pill even once, and the process is incurable. Taking the pill again doesn't actually fix anything, it only makes people ignore the pain and forces them to fight even with rotten innards.
