@akisame It's like life as slave instead of life in for-profit prison. And you can be pardoned and freed with your previous status returned to you. Kinda like how it is when you get a life sentence in prison.

I wonder how slave rights are in this story. As I've seen a lot of different types of slavery historically, with some being simply the equivalent of community service for a set amount of years then all your property and stuff is returned to you and you're free to go.
