Something else I've noticed is that Chinese LGBT manhua are surprisingly really good and thoughtful, standing out amongst both other chinese manhua of different genres and lgbt comics from other countries.

I wonder if this is also somehow tied to published work and censorship since a lot of these comics get by with a lot of freedom at the beginning when they're flying under the radar, then get warned about being LGBT when they get popular and begin to stall the plot.
