Retired Heroes - Ch. 39 - An Ordinary Family

I was processing hard on who is that dude who looks like sally then i had a bad feeling when realized it was her brother and there's no Aunt-san 😟
The kid had a black hair so high chance it was not their child

so either the aunt's dead, they got separated, or the tease was just a troll.... but the part of him killing the cleric+paladin party must have a backstory to it....

When I was looking at the raw I was totally under the impression that the little boy was Shok's kid. I'm kind of surprised Saliy and Chris would have another kid. I do hope a second season comes around!

Sad to get blindsided by a S1 ending + hiatus like this, but oh well. I enjoyed the family fluff + parents the most of this and was hoping we might get more after that last arc ended, but looks like it's probably going away from that direction. :(

She probably died in one of their adventures and the kid is probably either his and hers or an orphan he picked up somewhere. I guess with her gone his roots as a demon just began to stand out more and he finally just gave in to them. It sad but even the daughter showed signs that if there wasn't something really anchoring her down she'd have probably ended up like that. Of course it could also be that someone found out he was a demon and attacked him or informed people that wanted to kill him and she got between them and died.

Is there no way to know what happened to the aunt ? web novel or anything ? The aunt was so sweet :(

wait did the aunt died during birth? or was she killed by the sun order? and now the uncle is going full McFuckIt?

oh jolly i was worried for tifa the last chapter but it looks like she got her bloodlust under control...now im worried about her brother

im not ready for season 2...

What a jarring time skip, and the brother is now the agonist cause his girl is dead? hmmmm

Ok I am a little confused, not with the chapter it was a sudden time skip but i can deal with it, but what is exactly the situation with the manga? It is canceled or what?

Tifa's situation is complicated, her demon side and human side has given her a complex state of mind, but she is trying to stay on the good side.

Shok being all sinister looks so wrong, he just doesn't look right without that good smile on his face, his wife was killed by those fanatics it can only be that. I don't think he would just turn "bad" if she died in an adventure, he would grieve but not this it wasn't in his character before but if she betrayed his demon instincts would become prominent.

Man, i need an continuation.

Ughh worried about this time skip, feel like this is way too early, but we'll see I guess...

@alacaelum The publisher went bankrupt, S1 most likely had more plans in store but author must have been given a notice in advance to wrap it up. The timeskip definitely feels out of place though.

A continuation would only be possible if a different publisher picks it up.

Please, tell me this is not the end or some huge turn in the story, I loved the manga until now....
I don't want anything bad happening to any of the important character :/
I hope this is not a definitive change

@Zekefried Oh, thanks for the info, then it isnt that it is impossible to continue just complicated.

Well, can't blame the author for the strange time skip then, for a rushed chapter it still seemed to "wrap" things up decently and i can feel much intention and desire to continue in this.

The ones he killed were clerics and paladins, so I'm guessing the Church or whatever it's called Order killed the girl. This seems to be taking the adverturer, light v. dark isekai road now, which I'm not sure I agree. Just the lack of focus on the parents seems to suggest that the story of "Retired" Heroes is going to take the back seat now.
Anywho, thank you author for a fun season 1. :)

I'm not sure I know who all of these people are now... Perhaps I'll have to re-read sometime.

Also, you don't even need to be a different species to empathize with Tifa not fitting in. If I had a nickle for every awkward family gathering and every time I stood to one side listening to friends go on about things I don't care about, I'd have some serious cash. Maybe it's something that only extreme introverts and the like have to deal with, but just because you don't really belong in a group doesn't mean you can't be legitimate friends.
