oh so now he's literally God, okay. He can now kill anyone without any sort of repercussions. Like, why though? If there's no emotional weight in killing someone because they're just instantly revived, why have him kill people in the first place

It's not the murder that makes the murderer. It's the disregard for human life. To kill a person who has become a threat to innocent people in a permanent way is not disregarding human life, but on the contrary, measuring the worth of the life of a killer and the life of innocent people.
It's never a good idea to give a character the power to bring others back from the dead without consequences or extremely strict prerequisites. Just ask a D&D GM who had to deal with a death domain cleric.

Good point, but any one person with the power of judge, jury and executioner is on a slippery slope. At some point they will become a murderer, out of sheer routine. Better to not even step onto the slope.

Revival is always such a cop-out, true.
