...wow... I mean, anyone with half a brain would realize it was BS the second he offered them a million dollars EACH. I know they're scared for their lives, but how stupid can you be to think people like that would really let them off the hook at this point?

You don't come down kidnapping someone while your own life is still at risk for $900 (at least, not in countries where $900 is below the average month income).
@Orenji-kun in a life or death situation, tell someone they'll get money if they do something, they'll forget about thinking and actually do it, especially if that saves them AND get them the money.
Of course, this is blatant stupid and being ignorant. However, that's how a majority would behave (or rather : I believe it'd).
