REVOLT - Vol. 1 Ch. 2

Help? Whatttt...
I like the dynamic in Batman and Fate Stay Night. The “killing the few to save the many” was dissected and ripped apart. It’s both extremely idealistic and cynical, quite an oxymoron. This here is another example of that idea being dumbed down to fit the escapism and edgy plot. Revolution is never about “freeing the people” but always a power play. The outside force wants a government friendlier to them, no matter what the “people” want. Revolutionary troops are no different from your average communists, farcists, KKK, Black panther, US marines and terrorists. Young people with too much time and a taste for adventure. They fight because they think it’s fun, using a “cause” to justify their violence tendency. Of course, that is not to say they are wrong, they at least do something they feel could be meaningful even if it is just they own mind trying to trick themselves. In the end they are merely tools for those with power to achieve their goal. The US, Russian, British, China, Japan etc... all of those with power only permit revolution so long as it benefits them. That’s why Venezuela could happen for all they care, they might even support it while the Saudis brutal oppression of their opponents are rarely mentioned, including the weapons sold to them to achieve stability. That’s not to say the Saudis should be deposed. Without a strong hand to keep young men with a lot of free time in line, we’ll get ISIS everywhere. Dictators are necessary to keep things like the refugees crisis from happening. The moment the west permit “democratic rebels” to sprawl, they have unintentionally open the can of worms that the predecessors have worked so hard to seal. Sure, it’s easy to say: we should address the core problems instead of supporting dictators. Considering the preference for strong man leadership in everywhere else not the West in the world, I don’t think it’s even close to being possible. If there’s a model for successful dictatorship, the CIA should have try to spread the Singapore Model: iron fist coupled with systematic corruption. Everything is ruled by law but those with power benefits the most from the country economy being strong. Even CGP had done a simple video demonstrating the power play during a revolution. A revolution shouldn’t be something we cheer about and should be viewed as a natural disaster: a tsunami, a tornado but also not to lose hope, there’s no better opportunity to rebuild than after a disaster, just hope that things dont break down into chaos.
