This turned out so much better than expected! I initially dropped it when it was first getting translated because it seemed like it was going down the gratuitous sex instead of a plot route but a friend got me to pick it up again. Phew, I'm glad I did.

The only issue I have is all of the tan characters get seriously white-washed a number of chapter in. Is this because of how the raws were getting cleaned? Or did the artist suddenly decide everyone needed to be like 5 shades whiter/paler to appease the audience? It just kind of bums me out because having the main setting in a country of much darker skinned people was a unique breath of fresh air compared to a vast majority of this genre...
 
The intricts and lots of explanation reminds me of manga about a demon queen and his hero
 
It lives again! Does this mean Deus Ex is picking it up again!? Oh please tell me yes. It's now the plot starts to progress.
 
A lot better than I first thought. The MC is a typical wishy-washy pushover sararyman stereotype, but he has skills and knowledge of his own which is a pleasant change. The queen is that rarest of characters: an actually feminine monarch and military commander who is competent at her job and knows her business. I was highly impressed that they managed this when so many others are bullshit Holly/Bollywood caricatures of that type. It's very simplistic, but they actually have a good, reasonably mature romantic relationship.

The politics are vaguely accurate to real world shenanigans, the antagonists of the story are intelligent characters in and of themselves, and the pacing is appropriate for a low-medium depth storyline.

8/10.

...does this go harem? Because I want what I signed up for, ie monogamy.

Nah, just adaptation. He lived there for 2 years already. Ofcourse he will change because of different social role, climate, food, whatever.
 
The depiction of adults in a loving, romantic relationship is a real strong point in this very good manga. Just a sterling piece of work.
 
I was really expecting some annoying ecchi/harem (I didn't bother to look at the tags 😅) story that i'd drop during the first chapter, but i'm like 5 chapters in and all i've gotten is some genuine relationship and a slice of life I can stick with.
Sign me up!

unfortunately he will be forced to take a concubine for political reasons
but this was kinda expected since even Aura mentioned that it may be something unavoidable early in the story....
