Just thought of what it could be. The association most likely had their shops closer towards the residents and sold at a higher price. Now that the MC made it cheaper and accessible in their daily life for commodities in distant districts it began to eat their profits and it was probably growing exponentially. With this “peasant” that started taking their profits away they needed to eliminate him.
