Something worth noting here.
if the succubus are able to really "see" the dreams of people.
then it's possible she could see his old world depending on what he wishes for.....
and THAT would be a mess in of itself.

I really wanted him to keep going with his current business and solve the problem. What good is there in opening a new business when if you are successful it will be shutdown and you will be killed? This seems like a 100% pointless deviation. He should have worked towards getting in that group. The only other real option is to blackmail the leaders into giving him what he wants or somehow threaten their businesses. (ie. poison the food they sell, burn down the stores etc.)

Well there is a few other options.
But "convincing" the leaders of the group is one of the most realistic once.
Another would be to offer a service or item that is so good that the nobles don't want to shut you down, but its much harder.

As a succubus she must feed off his dreams in some form or fashion. Hopefully, it's not detrimental in anyway. She didn't seem malicious.
