I don't quite get the rationale behind the battou-jutsu. The sheath will cause friction in any case, so shouldn't it result in a slower swing than without a sheat? If it was due to some spring effect, couldn't you still do it without the sheath, with your other hand since only one hand will hold the sword in any case in the technique.

Watsuki's art is good by itself, but the work the artists did with the colors made the manga even better. And man, you're on fire.
