The princess along with the rest of the kingdom saw him leave with a wagon loaded full of gold from the kingdom's treasury. They were expecting a castle and town under construction since that's what the ceremony with the king was about. The princess and knights attended the ceremony so from their perspective, Dias ran off with the kingdoms' treasury and is committing treason (along with theft and possible rebellion since a thousand men and ton of gold doesn't just disappear). The sensed 'red' anger is about that, they think he's acting dumb because his reputation as an extremely competent fighter. She eventually does investigate what happened, the official at the ceremony was an agent of the prince, but by then it's much, much too late. She can't save her father or the kingdom. After this there's just roving war bands, slaver gangs and burned out villages in what was once a kingdom as the civil war spirals out of control, with a genocidal maniac who employs scorched earth tactics on one side and a princess untrained in war on the other. This doesn't affect Dias though since he's far from the wars, so it's slice of life. From his perspective, things turned out ok.
