Ryoumin 0-nin Start no Henkyou Ryoushusama - Vol. 2 Ch. 7

His first hand experience dealing with slave soldiers and his rationale in not buying them is impressive, since he considers himself a meathead.

What a good future lord. :D

Dead frog spotted!
It's kinda nice how even though Dias wants to grow his lands and population, he won't do just ANYTHING for it.

I realy liked his take on slavery, its a pretty rare point of view in most Storys. Most mains dont like slavery or want to free slaves( oftn by buying), but here we have a main that sees it realistic, there always will be more Slaves if its a running buisness.

nao i feel sad... but if that frog was kinda scheming something, should she be able to detect if it's hostile?

Huh, that's new. MC actually hates the idea of slavery. The other isekai mc's with modern sensibilities instead love their slaves. Fucking Japan.

@suzubelle Aruna saw him as white so he's neutral. He doesn't think he's harming them so he isn't hostile.

Makes me wonder how you might trick those horns tho

For an MC who actually dislikes slavery, the author jumped through a bunch of hoops so he could technically buy some, with the excuse that they became slaves willingly.

@xyzzy Would you rather die leaving your kids to survive on their own and end up slaves to a scumbag and go through horrible things. Or take this route?

Really liked how he managed to get around the slavery issue. The kids were taken in as charity cases and the merchant obviously doesn't want to deal with it any longer than he has to (pay for), so getting money out of it and offloading the kids all at once worked out.

Trade is free. Profits are sacred. Love your trade, profit and neighbour as your own. Obstructing someone's trading and profit is a violation of the laws of nature.

@suzubelle: The way I understand it:
He probably exaggerated some details of the story, without ever telling any lie.
i.e. yes the twin were exiled, yes the parents were sick, yes the parents offered all their belongings to have him take care of the kids even as merchandise
But the frog probably rejected their initial request a little more coldly.
Or that he wasn't going to really look for 'someone good' to sell them to, just anyone who's willing to pay for them will do (which may or may not be 'someone good')

Him calling Dias guileless is probably for Dias saying he'll pay for the kids' expense until now even without any suggestion from the frog.

@Shuzuchi: She can detect lies as well, and hey the kids are 'blue'.

@xyzzy: Yeah, that's a lot of hoops to get him to adopt the children, and to be fair he was going to refuse until Aruna stepped in.

To be fair, MC could frame it as paying to adopt the kids and thus escaping the act of 'buying them as slaves'. Even if the end result is the same, the meaning of the act is different provided that he doesn't treat the kids as slaves.
