Magic may be called magic but it's still logic based, at least it seems to be in most stories. Lightning magic fence? Is it powered by some Mana stones or something. If not, seems unreasonable.

Depends on just how magic is powered in this setting. I imagine that this is a setting where magic interacts with ambient mana in the atmosphere rather than solely being generated by the mage, in which case, I imagine the fence works by drawing and converting mana into electricity; that or it just converts the ambient mana in a certain radius (like a couple inches) into electricity. Either way, it wouldn't really require any form of obvious power source.

@BuffSoul Yeah... they never come around to explain that one... This is a minor event that gets forgotten in the novel as well (at least as far as I've read). I do believe it's unlimited, unless mages are constantly pouring in magic every day or whenever it's needed, but honestly, your guess is as valid as mine.
