The smartphone is not too strange if considering how big Sadako chan trust about how loved she is.

hey i have a weird theory.

what if she's already dead. and the room was hers but her ghost keeps appearing to her mom, so what she did was put all the charms in there to stop that from happening, but it did not stop. It did however change the ghost from maybe unrecognizeable ghost-looking ghost to a cute ghost with no memory of her death. and like we see (more like hear maybe) the mom just freaking out so everytime she hears her daughter's voice she gets panic attacks....
