I dunno, childhood friends are like that sometimes? It's more about proximity and interests than age. One of my best friends growing up was the neighbor's who was like ten years older than me. Introduced me to gaming and certain anime like Lupin, learned a lot about computers from him. Wasn't as close with his older brother, but that was probably who sparked my interest in playing different instruments 'cause he was in a garage band which is frankly one of the only interesting things that ever existed out here in the sticks where we were. People just want other people to talk to about their shared interests, doesn't matter if one of them is even about half the other's age.
