OK, that one sentence from the shady bishop. Maybe the wywern was the big fish here and not that it's gone there's going to be another, bigger fish? Or a bit smaller, but still quite big fish, a school of them? Like, the wywern was a protection against greater danger?

...erm, i thought the previous chapter pretty much dispelled any thought of the bishop actually being a villain. he was just supposed to be abbrasive and isolated, but well meaning.

dunno why people think he's going to be a villain just from the last page.
