Saihate no Paladin - Vol. 5 Ch. 24 - Alone

I gotta say I expected this manga to not just gloss over serious injury like that. Even his hair grew back? That's a bit ridiculous lol...

Really good chapter, I just hope there will actually be consequences for Will and his comrades fucking up and getting hurt. The goddess' healing just kind of seems to solve anything that isn't instant death, which feels like it'd quickly turn into a lack of stakes going forward. Maybe they'll make it so his hand doesn't heal properly so he can't hold a bow anymore?

He was just far too green. I believe I already said so in the previous chapter's comments. It doesn't matter if he himself is much stronger, it only adds to the overall strength. He still needs to choose and plan his battles. The problem is that he had no idea how to manage his forces. He also realised that himself in this chapter, yet he decided to choose the opposite path: To not learn and instead abandon the troops. Not to mention he's also disrespecting his troops by thinking that since they aren't as strong as he his, they are lacking conviction and determination. The only thing they lacked was a leader worthy of leading them. Will could have been that if he hadn't got ahead of himself. Too bad he didn't have a smart advisor/mentor in leadership.

Bee certainly knew how to choose the most hurtful words. I wonder who trained her to strike like that.

Nep: Good Menel. Save our MC from loneliness!

Demon Nep : Shoo Menel. We were just about to get our (probably) first edgy "light" Paladin. (The evil archetypes like Bleak Walkers or w/e don't count)

@zephyrnepres We already have consequences - Will is now in exactly the same state of mind as Mary, Blood, and Gus were when they made the deal with that undead spirit. He is now easy pray for any halfway-clever jackass to screw with his head.

What's more, unless Will gets his shit together real quick, the expeditionary force is going to completely collapse into disorganized rabble. Far out in these Beast Woods, that's a death sentence that none of them will survive.

In short, Will and the expeditionary team have somewhere on the order of 12-48 hours to completely recover from a very bad hit, physically and mentally. If they don't, they all die or worse.

@zephyrnepres I think it's more like William's healing prayer is stronger than most (all that holy bread I guess) and it makes sense how only William's benediction can fully heal while a normal priest can barely keep him on life support

I kind of wanted to see an edgy Will for at least one chapter but oh well. How did Menel catch up so fast? Goddammit Bee STFU.

@Xeredge: Probably because Menel received full healing from Will, so his physical strength is probably back to normal (though there is still the exhaustion left).
On the other hand, Will isn't fully healed yet, plus must have been exhausted because of healing Menel, so he is tired, even-then he is pushing himself, so he is moving slower than normal.

I love this development <3 now Menel will come in and balance his thoughts which would really make the MC better

Aw.... a chapter of edgy broody will would have been good development for Menel to bring him back. Ah well

ah, that was a great way for Will to realize there is such a difference in strength between him and others~

Holy shit, Bee - hope this teaches you to keep your mouth shut about these things next time around.
