His father wasn't interested in his sons disapproval and already spread around that they're going to get married. Talk no jutsu only works on enemies in manga. You think most people are able to talk their way out of an arranged marriage? The amount of married couples who would disagree with that sentiment working out even in modern day is quite substantial.

True, he perhaps could have convinced his sister first. True, perhaps he could have spoke to his mother who seemed to be leaning towards listening to him. But his sister would have stabbed him cuz yandere. And his father would once again just ignore mc's mother.

I don't disagree with you at all for an irl approach, it just wouldn't work out as well as we'd hope in this manga imo.

why is he so desperate to not marry his sister? in this world it's the norm and everyone does it and seeing as everyone doesn't look like fish people so there shouldn't be a genetic problem and you are from a completely different world and not actually related to her so for you it should be more like marrying a childhood friend. she gets to marry a brother and you a childhood friend, both win so why run?

@Hamin while I agree that it doesn't work well IRL, I bet many people who are forced into it IRL are probably not in a position to say "well, if you keep thinking that way, I'm leaving, and fk you daddy/mommy/little sister, because I'm both more powerful than you, and I make more money in a day than you do in a year." There's an entire conversation that could be had that isn't happening because people are forcing decisions on other people with very drastic measures.

mm, I don't know if the MC's sister would actually stab him. We keep throwing around yandere but she's been more passive (swapping mana stones) than active (alerting the parents or blocking his leaving) about his behavior.
