@ohguy Yeah I was reading it side-by-side and the environments on this on with miles ahead, but loved the action composition & energy of 1st scene way less in this version. The faces on this version are a mixed bag for me; I like the eyes much better, but the mouth feels too wide, and the chin feels way squatter or longer depending on the panel.

I kinda have to repeat myself from the previous chapter, but what are they gonna do - force him back into the army? The strongest number one? He's already done his duty, anything else is just him compromising, but they have no legal or actual power to make him do anything.

I think these stories are funny. He is the strongest Magician and has been fighting since he was 6. He already agreed to work with them in case of emergencies, something he wasn’t obligated to comply with but the geezer is still forcing him to go to school and attend lessons. If I were him I would give the Governor General the fright of his life and warn him that if he pushed his luck I would be going for his life, if that didn’t faze him I would threaten to destroy the city.

This would only make any normal person commit treason.
Since they did not uphold their end of the deal he could really just leave and decimate the military on his way out.

So, long story short, the MC asked for retirement, and the military simply pretends to give it to him, and puts him in a path that, no matter what, he ends up fighting for them. He still has to answer their calls, the endgame of the academy is recruitment for the military, they force him to interact with students so that he gets attached to people and make him believe that he is choosing to protect them by his own will and if he refuses to interact with them he is inmediately recalled to active duty.

Also, it speaks volumes to the lack of proper upbringing that MC doesn't have inmense political clout. Apparently, the can't even maintain proper national security without him yet he lets himself get pushed around. That alone tells me that they left him uneducated and ignorant of the real world on purpose so that he can be more easily manipulated. They are practically treating him like a slave, except that his chains are barely visible and his cage is really shiny and distracting.

These people are really fucking twisted. The story would be 100 times more interesting if the MC saw through this bullshit and tried to take an alternative path, but it won't happen because muh fantasy high-school story.

I preferred the old version. The art here is kinda better I guess, but like, MC LOOKS LIKE A LITERAL 12 YEAR OLD. IM SORRY BUT I CANT STOMACH HIS SUPER YOUNG LOOK. In the previous version, he did at least look his age.

Art wise, whoever illustrated the novel, is the better artist lol.

Story wise, not much to say as its only be 1.2 chaps so far. Although there are some changes, I think I preferred how the old version executed the story.

But just my personal opinion. This one is still also good, I’m just super glad that it got a new adaption.


Edit: something I really want to get changed is: Red hair’s personality. Man I remebered getting super annoyed at her. She’s so unsufferable
