Saikyou Yuusha wa Oharai Hako: Maou ni Nattara Zutto Ore no Musou Return

...He's not ugly, though. Just pudgy-looking. Not sure if that's a failure of the artist, whether they think he just can't be too ugly because "no one wants that," or whether the humans he lives with are really supposed to just be that hysterical. I mean, he's not gorgeous or anything either; he just looks... normal.

I guess it's probably just "hollywood ugly" again.

@Aelth:

Part of the premise is already that the demonfolk are way more accepting of people looking however they might look (just because they're used to living together with wildly disparate races anyway). So, I think you're most likely barking up the wrong tree here.

Mind, I admit, I'd personally prefer that if there's romance, he get together with a demon who isn't "traditionally" good-looking, because then this can be thematically about the importance of paying attention to who people are instead of how they look, instead of this just being another day of the milquetoast isekai, "This is why the protagonist life's sucks in the beginning, now sit back and enjoy a bunch of vicarious wish-fulfillment," sort of stuff.

However, given elf-girl's reactions in this last chapter I think I'm perhaps hoping for too much from this in that regard.

@Pokari "then this can be thematically about the importance of paying attention to who people are instead of how they look, instead of this just being another day of the milquetoast isekai"

Well put, that's what I am hoping for.

Compared to everyone else, the MC looks like a little kid trying to PLAY at being a hero with how he's dressed. Like come on, he didn't have some secret savings from being a hero and can only wear a tattered cloth shirt with suspenders, and some regular old bottoms while everyone around him has elegantly designed get-ups? It made it look even more pronounced when he was wielding the small dagger, that looked like something a kid would run around with when they didn't get a wooden sword from their papa, while he had that simple scarf-like cape on.

Only after reading the latest chapter did it occur to me: how on earth is the MC so fat, when his life style was, and still is, so physically taxing?
It reminds me of those rants against that one actor in Game of Thrones.

I wouldn't quite call being overweight hideously ugly. Secondly it's not permanent. Smells of a "I'm fat but I wanna be cool" kinda self-insert type character...and maybe armpits.

@Bored_Pray
At that time that didn't bother me, but now that i have been reading lots of Korean comics. "I see. I kinda agree"

Sure he has a pr etty ugly face, the rough art style doesnt help, but not like he has to stay fat.

time to drop
its getting stagnant and pretty normish at this rate.

abandoning ship.

This Ugly=Fat is just dumb, sure, agile fighting hero and is fat... nah... dont think so... if you wanna have a "ugly" hero than show it on the face, no need to let him stay fat if he does stuff all the time o.o
