The MP usage thing reminds me of the old days in Mabinogi...
Spells had set cast times, but if you lived far from the servers, they'd take longer, of course. But your MP usage was calculated from the client side on a per-second basis, so if you took forever to cast something because of lag, you'd spend a whole chunk more for the same spell.
