I made a cake similar to this a couple weeks ago, but in a bundt pan and without anise. Was still really good

@MasterFofo - Just to clarify- seems they are talking about Aniseed and not Star Anise (Illicium verum). Similar flavor profile, and they can be substituted sometimes, but not all times - summary of the difference is here - https://www.spiceography.com/star-anise-vs-anise-seed/
