Saving 80,000 Gold Coins in the Different World for My Old Age - Vol. 2 Ch. 12

The ice trade only became viable on an industrial scale by the nineteenth century, but Ice Houses for storing ice long enough to last the year have existed for well over three thousand years. sawdust and straw are decent insulators, and the square-cube law indicates that for eight times a given amount of ice, you'd only need to double the insulation, so it scales up pretty well (well there are other factors that would make building a larger ice house difficult, not to mention logistical concerns).

Chemically, Saltpeter's been used as a coolant since the Romans, just add water. want to recycle? boil it off. A similar salt, ammonium nitrate, is the primary ingredient in instant cold packs (the other one being water).

My point is that ice would probably be expensive anywhere powered refrigeration doesn't exist, but that it shouldn't be unheard of.

wait, did the author seriously imply that hourglasses are something that wasn't known in the middle ages? It was invented during the middle ages in Europe.
Also, a few chapters ago the mc "introduced" the concept of crop rotation to the nobleman. But the thing is... crop rotation has been in use as far back as around 6'000 BC. It was even mentioned in the Bible. Sure, people didn't understand the science behind crop rotation back then, but they still noticed that doing crop rotation helped to have better harvests long term. They just didn't know why. They didn't need to know why, they only needed to know that it worked, and they did know that.

Also, introducing canned food is pointless if they don't have the means to make new ones. They lack the technology for it.

Oh c'mon guys, don't forget that it's a japanese isekai, therefore westerners are all barbarians who discovered fire in the year 2018.

More like, this isn't our planet. Why does everyone assume every single thing has been discovered in exactly the same relative time periods they were on our world? You could say that these things are a matter of the right person being in the right place at the right time. There's no guarantee every single thing would be discovered or invented in even roughly the same order in a place with completely different circumstances in its history compared to ours.

Take penicillin for instance. Complete friggin accident. Who knows how much longer it could have taken us to figure out what was going on there if not for a dude being in the right place, at the right time, and screwing something up with improper lab procedures.

Can't you keep fish alive in a tank of water for a few days without any special technology?
A high-end restaurant should be able to import fresh fish.

Do you know some of this produce already exist in middle age ? And why do they buy flash light if they don't have batteries ?

Interesting comments but the cost of the medieval method are too high for peasants and transportation would take days or weeks to travel with the fact that some fish species would not survive half of an hour in a saltwater tank. You won't make a profit unless the selling price is ridiculously high.

Having emergency food that tastes good and can last for years isn't easy to get (having a monopoly for canning technology are great why share?)

Light sources are always great to have especially if it's instant and you don't have to start a fire source to make torches even if it's a few hours battery life. Plus it won't cause explosion or suffocation in mines.

As for tools, everything need tools! Why wouldn't anyone buy a much stronger and advance tools?

Every normal stuff in modern life is a miracle back then unless it's common for everyone to have magic to use in everyday life.
