to people that don't understand the whining here's why;

and the outcome of the situation is painted in the color of 'dun hurt ma fren' with obligatory one attack that end everything in a dramatic way. it's like, non nakama power-up that displayed in nakama power fashion as much as possible.
to add to the irony the chap title is "da tru powah of selia" which all of you defender of honor have mentioned that it really just power up from dran lmao
the factor that add to the shock and bafflement of the readers about this unfolding situation is the chapters up to this one is okay, then this one just went and did what an author who's creative reservoir is drying up to resolve the dilemma s/he introduced themselves, that's right; a display of nakama power.
and it's not even nakama power.

I feel like I'm stretching the definition of nakama power, but I was thinking that if Dran wasn't her friend, he wouldn't have given her that thing anyway. That's why I feel like it still applies.
More importantly, as to why she didn't just use it right away, she may have needed a few seconds to understand how to use it. I'm also aware that pain generally causes lapses in judgment for those who are susceptible to it. That's why she just listened to elves instead of thinking for herself, until the pain died down. But that then gave her those few seconds.
So ya, maybe this chapter did have a little bit of thought put into it.

by your logic, it really just getting worse. why would dran never told/teach her how to use it in the first place that she needed to think it out mid battle? she practically get half-beaten to death before she 'learned' how to use it.
if you look at prev chap, dran mention the pendant will help/protect her in the most crucial time. idk if that mean the thing wont activate until things went south. if thats the case, that pendant is really just a useless decor up until selia gettin the shit beaten out of her

again to the folk still trying to sell the "friendship power up", my guy is an ancient dragon who apparently outclasses the gods. Its possible he left a fragment of his powers in the pendant which caused lets say a part of his "soul" or some shit to converse with her and then grant her the temporary power. The title "the true power of Selia!" could just be in reference to her not backing down when faced against an opponent who outclasses her in every way. Yall are really so angry about the chapter and jumping to conclusions lol

It's common in a lot of story for a power from someone or something else to need some kinda trigger to active. Because if not, then it will only look like a cheap power. So, nothing strange here.
