Vyram was an extraneous addition to the fight anyway, since he's not even important past this point in the story. Having the fight be just between Phante and Cain is the best choice.

@Kyrieo maybe 2-3 seconds at best? The main difference is that katakuri is able to use his ability multiple times without having any major consequences

In the novel, there was another person in his fight

but as @LGear said, that person was only used for this fight.

Fighting Phante while avoiding sneak attacks from Vyram the three sword wielding mercenary was cooler, imo.

If you have the time, I definitely recommend the novel.
