I think that they're presuming our resident witch wouldn't go out of her way to bother anyone who wasn't standing between her and the prince (as, for instance, she presumably has left alone many of the other women she chased away?).

Which seems... a bit naive, given how far things have progressed. But hey.

(Honestly there's also another more fundamental problem which is that everyone is assuming her magic issues would go away if she went home, simply because she'd been fine growing up, but if I understand the lore correctly this could just be a slower and more drawn-out death for her newly-magically-vulnerable reincarnated-self, wherein she might well die there from background magic given a few years...)
