She's not only have a powerful position, but if she's really able to use dark magic, it would not be easy at all to kill her, even if the emperor has divine powers.

Also, I wonder if the words on the paper that she wrote can be read by the people of that world or if they just look like foreign characters to her. It matters because if she can understand them then she knows what the princess true intentions are keeping her from marrying him and so she decided to do whatever she could to marry him instead. If she doesn't understand, then she did that of her own decision and also is suspicious of the princess and might use that info to make the emperor doubt the princess

he’s definitely v conflicted between wanting to keep her around but also v disappointed in himself that he’s unable to protect her considering he is strong yet horrible stuff still happened to yeni
