This feels like the mangaka actually respect his readers and hasn't already run out of ideas.

I always felt in animes and dramas that characters over pre-school age talking about themself in third person using their surname sound like retarded morons or dumbass that think it make them look cute (and it just look as forced and fake than those middle aged women wearing pigtails thinking it will make them look younger ).

Too bad, it was a very emotionally loaded chapter but I just felt it cringe worthy thank to that.

Regarding the Carol thing, although it probably is mainly to make her appear more young and cute part of it is probably because she's a slave so not being able to use pronouns dehumanises her so she's not allowed to consider herself a person.
