Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles - Vol. 5 Ch. 26 - Farewell to Haruto

He doesn't want to be weak anymore? Really? All he does is being the blametaker, apologizing all day and so on. I can understand all the hate in the comment sections. -999999999/10

Want to know what he does to his mom’s killer?
Butchers him with little effort and zero remorse!

He wouldn't really prove anything by killing some noname small fry from the boondocks. In fact it would have only created more trouble. In a ruthless world you have to be ruthless, but if you kill without consideration, you are just a rabid dog.

Slience... did I read right at page 15

Also, where did this Hayate fellow pop out from? Is it one of those time when the mangaka oversight things?

I wonder if he's going to tear apart the man that killed his mom?

@Kaarme Also, consideration?? He was literally about to rape the MC family? You're telling me in that type of world, you wouldn't kill him?

@codydub03 If he actually had raped them, absolutely. However, since the bastard didn't get further than threatening the girls, in the bigger picture it's better to leave it to the justice system, such as it is. There's no sense to risk stepping on someone's (like a samurai's or whoever handles criminal sentences in those parts) toes just because of some small-time crook.

I guess "consideration" was kind of a bad word choice. I meant it in the sense of careful thinking, not as showing consideration to others. The MC is basically a lone wolf, so unless he uses his brain, he can't deal with far more numerous opponents. That's all I meant.

In this world(like our own), I wouldn't put much stock in the justice system(especially given that slave collars exist). Systems tend to protect those in power, so this person might get off with a slap on the wrist. Further, predators such as this have high recidivism rates and will opt to be better prepared rather than quit such activities. I do think some form of medical intervention(ie counseling, meds, removing brain tumors, etc) might serve to rehabilitate such individuals, but I lack data to draw such a conclusion. In this setting, though, I doubt many of these things exist.

On another note, I disagree with the idea that attempted rape should be treated any less harshly that rape itself. The attempt itself may have already caused substantial harm to the victims as well as revealed the perpetrator's willingness to commit rape.
