Sengoku Komachi Kuroutan: Noukou Giga - Vol. 2 Ch. 10 - Entertainment

About the Art of War part, Nobunaga probably wanted to know how good is Shizuko in military affairs. I don't think that woman in the Sengoku period is encouraged to learn about the Art of War so Shizuko having some knowledge of it might have intrigued Nobunaga. Shizuko had constantly surpassed Nobunaga's expectations with flying colours so he's probably eager to get another talented general under his command.

This is actually kind of dumb, because a crossbow was generally much less effective in power and range than a bow and arrow. The difference is the ease of use. Even if a crossbow is harder to reload, it's easier to aim and use, so the training time for a crossbow is much shorter and readily available to more people.

That last page though, oh no :concern:

BUT GOD DAMN! THAT'S SOME COOLASS ARMOR ON PAGE 37!!

@Boomburst well not really. I assume when you say it's dumb you mean the fact that it pierces armor and targets when the bow doesn't, but there are a few reasons, that is a long bow primarily used in modern days for sport and demonstration, and compound bows and other shorter bows for hunting in comparison, and hoes were inefficient in the past, and now many large bows can be drawn by children and women with little strength.
The fact this girl could make this on her own time without needing a massive factory means it can be produced relatively easily for Nobunaga in his mind, and the short training and the ease of use is great. Archers struggle when being charged, same with muskets, when someone is dashing towards you with a spear or sword, the pressure mounts and many times you lose you cool, (especially due to the emphasis on swordplay being superior, bows were commoners weapons because it cost less, metal was expensive and nobody wants to give peasants swords and risk rebellion) and you might lose your grip as well, ultimately even if you do fire chances are it will mess up somehow if you arent a pro and collected.
But saying bows are more effective than crossbows is an issue, as arrows evolved and new designs came obviously they improved, but the historical accuracy is a bit iffy. Modern crossbows are far deadlier than any modern bows if I am honest, as they have 20,50, 150 trigger pulls, and pulling above 100 on a standard bow is pretty impressive (for a peasant or someone who doesn't have a decent level of strength)

I'm not a specialist but the fact that she was allowed to wear the Oda crest during the contest, isn't it pretty important ?

140cm? holy shit ... are they dwarf? 140 cm is when i was in grade school for sure ...
even my lil bro are 170cm at 6th grade school

I'm scared where this is heading... But for some reason i feel she has a star of luck since things wont go his way... It just doesn't seem that type of novel where she'll be in a huge disadvantage... But i could be wrong

ah now i know why i see crane mon/crane crest [Mori clan (Genji)] on Shizuko commander uniform, it must because Shizuko serve Oda Nobunaga (Daimyo) but under Mori Yoshinari (Lord/Retainer).

please correct me if im worng thank you :D

at first i thought i saw Rokkaku clan crest there hehe

After the part with 'average height of adult male was 140cm', I had to stop and think about it. After a while I've tried to picture myself (192cm) standing before menacing-looking samurai (140cm) in full battle attire. It was a strange vision.

@undercurses tbf, they did say that in the era of the warring states most people were malrounished. I am not an expert but I wonder if it's the same for the people in the middle ages

@De_LaBaiGa ooh that's right.. i remember that on the newest chapter after this, most of ppl here just eat rice without some of vegs and meat ... just noble that can have luxury of salt
