The crest explanation was so weird that I decided to check the ch0 of the novel, just to see that its completely a different story, lol.

It starts with him killing a very powerfull dragon, but the result was bad (because he wanted to face those space monsters which would be much stronger, but that one kindgom destroyer dragon took him 27 seconds... welp). Most of the status on that world, including the ability to join magic schools, is tied solely on not having this one shitty crest, so he decides to reincarnate keeping his memories to reroll his crest, as its impossible to change it and its chosed when you are born. Hes also a few hundred years old and the most powerfull mage, but who cares, he just wants a new crest.
